The wash is a topical preparation containing benzoyl peroxide as the active ingredient which treats acne in three ways: by killing the bacteria, peeling away dead skin cells and removing excess oil secretions.
Benzoyl peroxide is most effective in getting rid of the accumulated dirt to clear up pores and works as a peeling agent. It increases the skin turnover, clearing pores and reducing bacterial count (specifically acnes) and acting directly as an antimicrobial.
